Dr. Sam Huang

Dentist

 

Dr. Sam Huang, known as Dr. Sam by many patients, graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2013. After graduating, Dr. Huang worked in northern Manitoba before moving to Stettler, AB to run his first dental practice. During the years practicing in a rural community, Dr. Huang performed and perfected his skills in dental surgeries, challenging restorative dentistry cases (large fillings and crowns/bridges), root canals, dentures and laser dentistry. In 2016, Dr. Sam relocated to Edmonton with his wife and their cat and bunny, to be closer to family, and took over the 34 Ave Dental Clinic.

 

Dr. Huang is fluent in both English and Mandarin and has experience working with all ages. He is known for his gentleness and reassuring manner that minimizes fear and anxiety and is committed to providing the best possible dentistry for his patients. Dr. Huang has continually improved his knowledge and skills through education in orthodontics, laser dentistry, oral and nitrous sedation, complex extractions, and cosmetic dentistry. He is also interested and experienced in orthodontic procedures (traditional wire braces and Invisalign® clear braces) and restorative implants.

 

Dr. Huang is well involved in the community as a Rotary Club member and, in his spare time, enjoys spending time with his wife and their baby boy, taking road trips to the mountains, swimming and basketball.

SPECIAL INTERESTS AND TRAINING

Orthodontics

Dr. Sam Huang is a member of the International Association of Orthodontics (IAO), and has a special interest in orthodontics for all ages.

  • Early childhood orthodontic intervention with appliances such as expander, early class II correction and habit-breaking appliances. 

  • Moderate Severe crowding cases with braces or Invisalign, non-extraction most of the time.

  • Class II and class III correction with carrier motion appliance with Invisalign combination.

  • Deep bite correction with braces or Invisalign.

Implant and Bone Graft
  • Fully guided Straumman implant surgery (with CBCT planned guide with less errors) and implant crown restoration

  • Guide Bone Regeneration (GBR)- bone graft to get sites ready for implant to gain bone.

  • Socket preservation after tooth extraction to prepare for implant to preserve the bone site.

 

Endodontics

Regular root canal treatment and complex calcified root canal treatment. Some root canal re-treatment.

 

Laser Dentistry

Gum Recontour, gingivectomy, less traumatic tongue-tie and frenectomy, fibroma removal, Cold sore/ulcers, and Temporal-manidbular joint related muscle pain.

 

Digitally Designed and Fitted Dentures

We use Itero to scan the arch/teeth (no impressions) and digitally design and print. The result is a very accurate fit.

 

Sedation

Oral sedation with Halcion and N2O (laughing) gas for adults and children who experience dental anxiety.

 

Restorative
  • Bioclear method to close spacing and black triangle

  • Complex restoration with composite and crowns for front and molar teeth

  • Composite and porcelain veneers

 

TMD Treatment

We make an Anterior deprogrammer for patients who clench/grind to reduce TMJ symptoms and are able to use laser treatment to reduce TMJ area muscle pain.

 

Extractions

Surgical extraction and select wisdom extractions.

Kristine has been our reception and treatment manager for years. Hers is the voice you'll hear when you call to book your appointment, and the first face you'll see when you walk in the door.

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)

Jackie has been a dental assistant since 1986. Her patients are always her number one priority. She is a caring, compassionate person, and fun loving.

Patricia

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)

Patricia started work at our clinic in November of 2010 and has greatly enjoyed working with everyone. She enjoys getting to know her patients and giving them a good experience every time they come in.

In her spare time, Patricia loves travelling, camping, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Lea

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)

Lea has always had a keen interest in health, as well as in the human body and how it works. It was due to her own positive dental experience as a child, and her interest in health, that Lea decided to pursue a career in dental assisting. She loves helping people, educating them, and being a part of a process that can improve a person's health, self-esteem, and quality of life. 

Lea feels very blessed to have her amazing daughter and loves to spend time with her. Lea also enjoys learning about other cultures, and hopes to do more travelling to Europe with her daughter in the future.
