Family, General & Preventive Dental Care

Comfortable, personalized dental care for children, adults, and families.

At 34 Ave Dental, we believe great oral health starts with consistent, personalized care. Dr. Sam Huang and our team provide family, general, and preventive dental services for patients of all ages, helping you and your loved ones maintain healthy smiles for years to come.

Framing A Smile

Dental Exams

A dental exam helps your dentist assess your oral health and identify concerns before they become more difficult to treat. At your initial dental appointment, we ask that you arrive early and plan for a comprehensive oral examination, which may include dental X-rays to help assess your oral health.

Teeth Cleaning

Regular dental cleanings help prevent cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. During a cleaning appointment, tartar and plaque are removed, and teeth are polished to remove surface stains and plaque not removed by brushing and scaling.

Fillings

Fillings may be recommended to repair damage caused by tooth decay, chipped or worn teeth, cracked or broken teeth, or spaces between teeth. We offer a variety of filling options such as: composite fillings, silver fillings, and glass ionomer fillings.

Ongoing General Dental Care

General dentistry supports the everyday health, comfort, and function of your smile. Depending on your needs, this may include care related to fillings, crowns, bridges, extractions, root canal therapy, and other common dental concerns.

Helping Children Feel Comfortable at the Dentist

At 34 Ave Dental, we provide dental care for patients of all ages, including young children. Our goal is to create a welcoming and comfortable experience while helping children build positive dental habits and supporting their oral health as they grow.

We understand that some children may feel nervous or unsure about visiting the dentist. Our team takes a gentle, patient-focused approach, explaining each step of their care and helping them feel at ease. For children who experience dental anxiety, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) may be an option to help them feel more relaxed during treatment while remaining awake and responsive. Dr. Huang will discuss your child's needs and determine whether this option is appropriate for their care.

Early Orthodontic Intervention

As children grow, their teeth and jaws keep developing. Early orthodontic assessments can help identify concerns with tooth alignment, jaw development, and bite function before all their adult teeth have come in.

Dr. Huang has a special interest in early childhood orthodontics and offers treatment options such as expanders, early bite correction, and habit-breaking appliances when appropriate. Not every child needs early orthodontic treatment, but an assessment can help determine whether intervention would be beneficial or whether continued monitoring is best.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I visit the dentist?

For most patients, visiting the dentist every six months for an exam and professional cleaning is recommended. However, some patients may benefit from more frequent visits depending on their oral health needs. Dr. Huang will recommend a schedule that is appropriate for you.

When should my child first visit the dentist?

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children have their first dental visit within six months of their first tooth erupting or by their first birthday. Early visits help monitor oral development and create positive dental experiences from a young age.

What happens during a routine dental exam?

During a routine exam, your dentist will assess your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Depending on your needs, dental X-rays may also be recommended. Your appointment may include a professional cleaning, and your dentist will discuss any findings or treatment recommendations with you.

What if I haven't been to the dentist in a long time?

You're always welcome at 34 Ave Dental. Whether it's been a few years or much longer, our team will focus on understanding your current oral health, answering your questions, and helping you move forward with care at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
